At least two NATO soldiers were killed after a helicopter crash allied mission in Wardak province, in eastern Afghanistan, an official source told Efe.The casualty occurred shortly after noon (local time) in the Nirkh district, as detailed a provincial spokesman, Shahidulá Shahid, adding that an investigation is underway to clarify whether the device had technical problems or was shot down.
The NATO mission issued a statement not only provides details of the event, but states that the first rule that the incident reports was due to "enemy activity in the area."
In an earlier statement, the press office of the NATO mission said the aircraft crashed while conducting "routine operations" and that the victims were taken to a facility of the Allied troops near the impact site.
With two deaths in this accident and are three NATO soldiers who have lost their lives today, as the Alliance said this morning that another of its soldiers died in the South Asian country because of an insurgent attack.
In the last 24 hours have killed nine soldiers and allied mission, according to the website icasualties.org specialized 170 NATO soldiers have died this year in Afghanistan.
Allied troops began their withdrawal in July but remain on Afghan soil about 120,000 troops eventually leave Afghanistan in late 2014 if they meet the deadlines.
